Missisquoi Nord, Rivière

Contenu

The headwaters of the Missisquoi North River are lac d'Argent, or Silver Lake, in Eastman.  It flows some 46 sinuous kilometres through lac Trouser in Saint-Étienne-de-Bolton, along Route 245 to Bolton Centre, where there are picturesque falls and an upscale spa, to South Bolton and thence into Potton.  Very pleasant walking trails have been built beside sections of the River in each of the municipalities.

In Potton, the Missisquoi Nord, which flows beside Route 243 for the most part, finally converges with the Missisquoi at Highwater.  Near Mansonville, however, the river narrows and the land drops abruptly, forming dangerous rapids.  It is here that several mills were constructed.  Below Mansonville, it resumes its serpentine route, and descends to Highwater where it converges with the Missisquoi River.
