This road is named for Maurice Coté (1920-1994) who owned and farmed the flank of the south side of Owl's Head.  Maurice Coté was born on Chemin de Province Hill.  In 1924, his father bought the farm at 29 Chemin Owl's Head, and there Maurice Côté lived and brought up his family.  The Côté family name is one that is well known in the Township, and several descendants of the various branches remain here.

In 1964, part of the farm was sold to Nicolas Matossian.  He sold to it Pierre Giroux in 1995, who then subdivided the land into lots, and built the road now called Chemin Maurice-Côté.  Interesting here to note that the English speaking Côté families in Potton (of whom Maurice was one) dropped the accents from their name and spelled it C-o-t-e.
