Laplume, Chemin

Contenu

Marcel Laplume and Pamélie Joyal came to Mansonville in May of 1919, with their family of six sons and three daughters.  Pamélie died on March 4, 1923.  Marcel Laplume remarried to Joséphine Arpageau.  Unfortunately, they both died in an accident on August 12, 1963.

Adrien Laplume acquired his father's 135 acre farm situated along the US-Canada border, in 1936.  He married Simone Boily, from Saint-Odilon, Dorchester, on October 11, 1937 and they had ten children.  Mr. Laplume took a great interest in municipal affairs and was Councillor for 11 years, and Mayor for 7.  In 1974, he ceded the family farm to his son Raymond who continues its operation.[1]

At the time of writing, Mr. and Mrs. Adrien Laplume are living in Mansonville, and, quite remarkably, celebrated their 75th Wedding anniversary in 2012.  Their son Claude was Mayor of this Municipality from 1993 to 2009.  The descendants of the Laplume family are numerous, and most still live in the Mansonville area.  Chemin Laplume leads to the family farm and is without outlet.
