Jones, École
Contenu
This little building is located at the corner of Peabody Road and Chemin du Lac. It was built in 1865 as a school, known as Jones' School or Jones # 12. During that time, as was the practice within all rural Protestant communities, schools doubled as meeting halls for religious services until proper churches could be afforded. In 1949, when the school closed, the United Church of Canada purchased the building. It was used for regular Sunday worship until the 1960's and seasonally, thereafter, until its sale in 2010. This building, now privately owned, is the last intact one-room school house in Potton, a tangible reminder of by-gone days and source of many fond memories for those still living in the tiny community of Vale Perkins.
