Couvert, Pont

Contenu

Simply known as the “Covered Bridge” or the “Province Hill Bridge”, and earlier, as the “Creek or Crick Bridge”, its official name is now Pont de la Frontière (border Bridge) because of its proximity to the Canadian/American border.  This bridge is one of the two remaining covered bridges in the MRC of Memphremagog. The other is in Fitch Bay.  Potton's bridge was closed to vehicular traffic in 1967 and saved from certain demolition by Fred Korman, then Mayor of Potton.

Potton Heritage Association has worked diligently for the protection of this landmark and for its citation as an historical site.  A viewing platform was built in 2012 above the river's edge that is reached by a walking trail.

More information is under the title Pont de la Frontière as well as in a Potton Heritage Association brochure of the same name.
