Boright, Maison
Contenu
Located opposite Place Manson at 295 Main Street, this commercial building was built by William Henry Boright in 1860. It currently houses Euro-Deli, a specialty market, owned and operated by Galena Kapelian and John Mierzwinski.
Harold Clark (1902-1988) operated a feed and grain store in this building around 1925. In 1935, Claude Boright (1869-1959) and his wife Margaret McKay (1878-1958) revamped the building into a general store. In 1945, it became a grocery store owned and operated by Gabriel McDuff (1909-1989) and his wife Julienne Marcoux. Subsequent owners and store operators have been Pierre Allard, Guy & Shirley Lalumière and Yves & Francine Hamelin.
The building, of traditional American style, has strong heritage value, according to its classification by Claude Bergeron, who was commissioned by the Municipal Council to evaluate the buildings within the urban perimeter of Mansonville. The classification considers only the historical value with no particular weighting as to its authenticity.
