Signal Hill Road, Chemin du

It is from the summit of this road that the entire mouth of Sargent's Bay, in Lake Memphremagog, is clearly visible. The significance of the name is self-explanatory and the road name, traditional. Steamers which once plied Lake Memphremagog waters, like the Mountain Maid, the Lady of the Lake, and the Anthemis could be seen arriving. A flag was raised to signal that the boat's arrival was imminent and for the people of Knowlton Landing to prepare the carriages and wagons to pick up the incoming passengers.
C'est au sommet de cette voie de communication que l'on apercevait l'entrée de la baie Sargent dans le lac Memphrémagog. Le signal servait de repère visuel pour l'arrivée des bateaux dont on signalait la présence en hissant un drapeau. Les habitants Knowlton Landing préparaient alors les calèches pour y recevoir les nouveaux arrivants de Boston.[1]
