Korman, Visonnières, Site industriel
Contenu
The family of Albert Korman arrived in Potton from Germany in 1926 and quickly integrated themselves into the economic development here. In 1927, Mr. Korman bought a dairy farm of 174 acres from Abel Hammond (1855-1932), who was married to Emily E. Jersey (1855-1933). Here the family raised mushrooms, rhubarb and asparagus. Later, the business expanded into the raising of angora rabbits, as well as silver and artic blue foxes. In 1937, the family went into mink ranching. By 1982, the farm had around 8000 animals and was owned by Emil Korman and his wife Trudi. The business closed following the 1990's crisis in fur farming. The installation was sold to a rabbit-farmer who failed in that endeavour. The barns have since been destroyed.
