Nine Holes, Site naturel
Contenu
This natural site is in the Sutton Mountains, in the area protected by the Nature Conservancy of Canada, as part of the Réserve des Montagnes-Vertes, a non-profit organisation devoted to the protection of nature in the Appalachian region. The Nine Holes are the source of much folklore and mystery, and are purportedly the deep subterranean source of the Ruiter Brook. As the name suggests, there are several natural holes of varying depths rather than “depressions”. Some are said to be extremely deep. To say that the terrain is ruggedly difficult and dangerous is an understatement, we have been told. The Nine Holes are unmarked, and few actually know their location. Exploration is actively discouraged.
