Bob Richardson, born in 1927, was a native of Magog, Quebec who became a very well known figure in the ski-family that is Owl's Head. Mr. Richardson, who was better known as “Bob” to all, was a member of the downhill racing National Ski Team for Canada from 1948 to 1954. His technical perfection and skill as a skier brought him membership on the Olympic ski team of 1952, when he competed for Canada at the Oslo games. He held the Olympic downhill record as a racer for 20 years. He won the 1949 and 1955 Canadian combined championship, before retiring from competitive skiing in 1955. Eventually, his career brought him to Owl's Head where he helped set many of the existing trails. He was the Director of Owl's Head Ski School from 1965 to 1995. Upon his death in 2004, his ashes were entombed on Owl's Head Mountain in accordance with his wishes. The Korman family affixed a commemorative plaque in his honour at the summit of the Kamikaze ski trail on the mountain he loved so well.
