Contenu
Named for the White family, descendants of Abner Kneeland White (1803-1892) and his wife Eliza R. Calkins (1809-1883) who, in October 1843, moved from Hyde Park, in Vermont to Potton. They settled in the West Hill area of Potton, where their great-great-grandson, John, still farms and other descendants still live. A picture of the original house built by Abel Calkins White, in 1882, is shown on Plate # 19 of Potton d'antan, Yesterdays of Potton. Abel Calkins White (1828-1905) and his wife, Martha Norway (1848-1936), are buried in the Protestant Cemetery of Mansonville with father Abner Kneeland White and wife, Eliza Calkins White[1].
White Road offers panoramic views toward the east of the Missisquoi-North valley, Elephantis, Sugar Loaf and Owl's Head Mountains.
