Verge-d’Or, Place de la
Contenu
According to Marie-Victorin, there are about 125 varieties of verge d'or, goldenrod in English, Solidago in Latin, to be found in Quebec. The most common and widespread are Solidago rugosa or wrinkle leaf golden road, and Solidago canadensis or Canada goldenrod. Its name suits the plant, a plume of yellow flowers on a sturdy stem. Its height can attain 200 centimetres. Goldenrod is found everywhere in Potton, provided there is good sun and soil that is neither wet nor dry. As a matter of interest, Solidago canadensis is making a nuisance of itself in China, where it has proliferated to the detriment of some 30 native species and is now considered an invasive weed.[1]

Son nom convient bien aux fleurs jaune or qui s’étalent au sommet d’une tige rigide. Sa hauteur peut atteindre 200 centimètres.[1]
