Sherrer, Maison

Contenu

This historic home, built around 1850, is situated at 2596, chemin de la Vallée-Missisquoi, in Dunkin.  It has belonged to the Sherrer family since 1930; however, this house once knew service as the Wayside Inn, which welcomed passengers and visitors on the stage route between Troy, Vermont, and St. Johns, now called Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.  The Wayside Inn was built and operated by Mark Elkins.

More is written under “Wayside Inn”.  Refer to heading of “Elkins Cemetery” for history of the Elkins family in Potton.
