2. Cimetière POTTER | Privé
Situé sur une colline boisée à l’intersection des chemins West Hill et de l’Étang Fullerton, ce cimetière comprend deux pierres tombales, celles d’Emma I. Potter (1859-1880), femme de Damon E. Warner, décédée à 21 ans et de son frère, Frank H. Potter (1858-1876), mort à 18 ans. Bien jeunes pour mourir! Pourquoi? L’histoire locale ne nous renseigne pas à ce sujet. Curieusement, une pierre tombale du cimetière Ruiter porte les mêmes inscriptions que celles que l’on retrouve pour Frank H. Potter, sur West Hill. Mais rien pour Emma. Un mystère.
Près des tombes au cimetière Potter, on peut voir les fondations de deux maisons. Les autres membres de la famille sont inhumés dans le cimetière Ruiter Settlement à Dunkin, dont Abner Potter (1785-1882) et Jane B. Potter (1840-1919), épouse de Harvey Crowell.
2. POTTER Cemetery | Private
Located on a hill in the woods at the corner of Chemin West Hill and Chemin de l’Étang Fullerton, this family plot contains two large rectangular tombstones with the names of Emma I. Potter (1859-1880), wife of Damon E. Warner, died at 21 and her brother Frank H. Potter (1858-1876), died at 18. What befell them to have died so young? History is silent on their story. Curiously, there is also a stone in memory of Frank H. Potter in the Ruiter Settlement Cemetery, bearing the same dates (1858-1876) as is found in the Potter plot on West Hill! But none for Emma. Of course, we wonder why?
Not far from this tiny plot, the ruins of two structural foundations can be seen. Other members of the Potter family are buried in the Ruiter Settlement Cemetery in Dunkin; among whom, Abner Potter (1785-1882) and Jane B. Potter (1840-1919), wife of Harvey Crowell of West Potton, now called Dunkin.
